Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
I'm almost done with this Harry Potter book, I only have about 100-150 more pages! So far Harry has been having horrible dreams about this special door at the Misitry of Magic. Dumbledore thinks that Voldermort maybe be possessing Harry and because of that he orders Professor Snape to teach Harry Occulmency. This study is suppose to help Harry block out these dreams. When Harry went to his first lesson, Snape didn't even tell him what to do and hit him with a curse. Harry wasn't ready for it and had severve pain in his scar. I think Snape did that on purpose, knowing Harry wasn't going to be ready. Snape is always so mean to him that I'm glad I don't have a teacher or professor like that in my life. Harry has to deal with Snape almost everyday. I like going to school a lot, and if I knew that I had to go to Hogwarts and deal with this teacher, then I'd do my best not to have him. The reason Snape is so mean to Harry went unnoticed, until Harry found out. When Snape left the room, Harry looked inside his pensive, full of all his memories, and saw one with his father in it. His father teased Snape so much that I can understand why Snape would not like his son. But, to Harry's misfortune, Snape doesn't know that Harry isn't like that at all! When I read the part about the pensive, I felt so bad for Professor Snape. I finally came to realize why Snape is so dreaded and mean, it's because of his childhood. I always thought that Harry's father was this heroic man, but really he was mean and teased everyone, especially Snape's. Harry's reaction was quite like mine.

Harry had no idea what to do so he wanted to talk to Sirius to see if his father was really like that. Dumbledore is now not the headmaster of the school, but guess who is....Professor Umbridge of course. She is annyoing me so much that I wish the story could be different, but I can't change the book. Harry had to sneak into her office to use the fire to talk to Sirius because Umbridge secured the whole school. The first time through, it worked but the next time, Harry got caught by her. I think Umbridge is just out to get Harry and that is her total mission. She is the most annoying character in the book and I really wish she weren't in it. On the other hand, she makes the reader more excited to continue to read the book and find out when she's going to strike next, that's about the only good thing about her. I just can't seem to realize why anyone wouldn't like Harry Potter! I predict that Professor Umbridge will strike again, but in a worst manner possible, the only thing is, I'm not sure when that is going to happen because the year is almost over. I know I'm not the only one who doesn't like Umbridge, all the teachers don't. Speaking of teachers, she fired Hagrid and that really stirred up attention at Hogwarts. I really hope that Professor Umbridge will not be in the last book, but she probably will appear in it, because J.K. Rowling is an amazing writer.

Third Blog Post

Book: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Pages: 397-491
In these pages of the book, Harry and Ron had their first quiditich match. Of course it had to be against Slytherin. Harry's enemy was on that team, Malfoy. This match was Ron's first and the first game of the season. Ron was extremeley nervous and during breakfast, right before the game, everyone at the Slytherin table wore badges saying "Weasley's our King". It intimadated him so much, that he ate nothing for breakfast even though Harry encouraged him too. I think the Slytherins are showing Ron's weakness and using it against him. During the whole quiditch match, the Slytherin's had a chant about Ron and that totally threw him of his game. He was basically the goalie and let every single attempt in. I think the Slytherins are being very rude and shouldn't be able to chant about someone on the opposing team. I'm surprised no teacher said anything about this, because if I were I teacher I would ban all the chanting and rude remarks. It's not fair and bad sportmanship. In the end, Harry caught the snitch which gave Gryffindor 150 points, winning the game. It was a close catch between the two seekers, Harry and Malfoy. After the game, Malfoy was being a sore loser and saying very mean remarks about the Weasley family. This ended in Harry punching Malfoy and being sent to Professor McGonagall's office, the Head of Gryffindor. As I mentioned in a previous post, Harry has anger management problems. I'm glad that he tried to stand up for Ron and his family, but punching Malfoy will just leave him more trouble. I don't think Harry ever thinks before he acts.

Professor Umbridge, of corse, got involved in Harry's punishment. She banned him from playing quiditch ever again, along with Fred and George who were involved in the fight. To enforce the rule, she locked up their brooms in her office. I couldn't believe someone would be able to do that after just a fight. I know fights are not the right way to solve problems, but Professor Umbridge went to far. Of course this is nothing new because she always does. Harry's life is her target and she'll do anything she can to make sure he doesn't get what he wants. Angelina was very very angry to find out three of the seven Gryffindor players were off the team. Angelina seems like the person I can most relate to. She is strict and lays down the laws. If someone messes them up though, she'll get very angry. All of her actions were predictable, but expected. If I were Angelina, I would be very very regretful of putting Harry on the team, excpet for that he has amazing talent. First, Harry misses a whole week of practice, then he misses another one, then the quiditch team might've not been able to continue, because Professor Umbridge's rule, and lastly, he got kicked of the team. This would be very aggravating for anyone. Finally, after a six month absence, Hagrid, a close friend of the Harry, Ron, and Hermione's, returned to Hogwarts. Immediatley they went to visit him. He told them his story of his adventures, which I found quite interesting.

Harry had a terrible dream about Ron's father. He was tossing and turning all night. I can relate to this because I have been told I'm a restless sleeper. I've never had nightmare before that was as horrific as Harry's was. In his dream, he saw himself being a snake and eating Mr. Weasley. Ron woke him up in the middle of the night and brought him to Dumbledore's office. Harry told him of the dream there and said it wasn't a dream, but it seemed like it was actually happening. Dumbledore found out that what Harry saw in his mind actually did happen and Mr. Weasley was rushed to the hospital. After reading this part, I could definitley tell the book was fantasy. No one in real life has a dream and then it comes true the very minute you have it. I didn't think it was a coincidence, though. Harry seemed to be in the same room as Mr.Weasley as a snake attacked him. I thought this part of the boook was kind of wierd, but also very interesting. Once I read it, I thought Harry had some kind of magical power that he could see things as they were happening. I then imagined if I could do that and I realized I wouldn't want to have that power. There are just some things in the world I don't want to know about and I definitley wouldn't want to have a dream about them as they happen. I'm very curious to see what will happen to Mr. Weasley, and if he's okay.

Second Blog Post

Book: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Pages: 306-396
In what I have read, Professor Umbridge has been appointed "high inquisitor" by the Ministry of Magic. This just goes to show that Professor Umbridge was sent to Hogwarts to spy on other teachers for the Ministry of Magic, or so I think. Being this "high inquisitor" Professor Umbridge gets to spy on all the teachers by dropping in for a class for an inspection of the teachers. The first person she inspected was Professor Trelawney, the Divination teacher. He seemed fine with most of what she was questioning. Professor Umbridge even asked the students some questions about the teacher. I personally think inspections are fine to do. I know they go on at our school. Mr. Sindelar will occasionally sit in on a class. The only problem, in the book, is Professor Umbridge makes it very obvious she is spying. Of course this had not been confirmed as what she is actually doing, but all the students at Hogwarts think so, especially Harry, Ron, and Hermione.
Professor Umbridge gave Harry another weeks worth of detention for speaking out in class. Harry is on the quiditch team for Gryffindor, and the team captain is Angelina. Last week she was very upset to know that Harry had to miss practice to go to detention. This week was even worse, because he had to miss another weeks worth of quiditch practice, and Angelina was very angry. I understand why Angelina would be angry, because if I were captain I would be too. But, Harry seems to be recieving detention for nothing horribly wrong. Speaking out is class, all though it is not acceptable, for doing it a couple times, shouldn't land him in detention. As I kept reading, I understood that Harry had temper problems and always seems to burst in her class. I think he needs to relax a little bit because his anger gets him into trouble.
Hermione had the idea of forming a club to learn Defense against the dark arts. Professor Umbridge doesn't allow her class to use magic so Hermione thought Harry could teach a group of people defense strategies for the real world. Harry agreed to be the teacher. When everyone went to Hogsmeade for the weekend, Hermione told everyone to meet at Hog's Head for their first meeting. Harry expected only a few peole to come, but almost twenty or more people came, including Cho, the person he likes. He was very impressed with the turn out but a little stressed out. I think the idea of having your own club to learn real life things is an excellent idea. Since, Professor Umbridge wouldn't teach them, learning it on your own is a very wise desicion. They voted Harry the leader because he has actual experience in using defense against the dark arts spells. The group became known as Dumbledore's Army. The only drawback was, Professor Umbridge, as the "High Inquisitor", made the rule that all clubs had to be approved by herself. It seems like Umbridge is doing everything in her power to make sure Harry's life is miserable. I feel very bad for Harry, luckily I have no one like that in my life. But, Harry has to deal with Umbridge and Professor Snape, another teacher who doesn't like him. Of course this was bad because Dumbledore's Army was all against Professor Umbridge. The quiditch team is a club, and luckily got the okay to continue on. Dumbledore's Army continued to still meet in a secret room.

First Blog Post

Book: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Pages: 200-305
In these pages, Harry finally is back at Hogwarts and was not expelled by performing magic in a muggle community. Every year the sorting hat, sorts the first years (Hogwarts students who are in their first year of attending the school)into four houses, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin. Before the sorting, the hat always sings a song about the different houses and how people are divided. This year though, the sorting hat conveyed an unusual message through his song, very different from the usual. I was very surprised that the sorting hat told the students danger was coming and everyone had to come together and unite, even though they were separated into different houses. Not only that was different at Hogwarts this year. A new teacher, Professor Umbridge was a staff member at Hogwarts and was sent in by the Ministry of Magic. When I read this I thought that could not be possible. First, the Ministry of Magic accuses Dumbledore, the headmaster at Hogwarts, that he is crazy. Then, they send in a teacher to spy on him, and all the student, at Hogwarts. This is what I think, of course.
On Harry's first week of the term, he had a lot of homework already. I can relate to that because in my past years at school, some teachers liked to get started teaching at the very beginning of the year. I had a lot of homework the first week of school, not this year, and I know what it's like to feel stressed out. I spend a lot of my time in the theatre after school and sometimes I get home and find out I have a lot of homework to do and stay up late to finish it. Harry was very stressed his first week back at Hogwarts.
Harry Potter and Professor Umbridge aren't the best of friends. In the middle of class, Harry was arguing with her about his views on Lord Voldermort. Umbridge gave Harry detention and was sent to Professor McGonagall who told him to be careful around her. During detention, Professor Umbridge made Harry write "I will not tell lies" as many times as she wanted him to with one of her special quills. At first the words wouldn't show up on his page, then all of a sudden his hand hurt really bad and the words "I will not tell lies" was printed on the back of his hand. Once it was printed, the skin healed it's self again, until he wrote "I will not tell lies" again. He soon realized that the ink he was writing with was his own blood. I could not believe this. It must have hurt extremely bad, I would never be able to do that. Harry had to go to detention every single day of that week and by the end of the week, he thought his hand would be permenatley scarred. I can not even picture what that must have been like. Seeing your own hand being scraped. I'm looking forward to see if Harry will tell his friends what happened.
