In what I have read, Professor Umbridge has been appointed "high inquisitor" by the Ministry of Magic. This just goes to show that Professor Umbridge was sent to Hogwarts to spy on other teachers for the Ministry of Magic, or so I think. Being this "high inquisitor" Professor Umbridge gets to spy on all the teachers by dropping in for a class for an inspection of the teachers. The first person she inspected was Professor Trelawney, the Divination teacher. He seemed fine with most of what she was questioning. Professor Umbridge even asked the students some questions about the teacher. I personally think inspections are fine to do. I know they go on at our school. Mr. Sindelar will occasionally sit in on a class. The only problem, in the book, is Professor Umbridge makes it very obvious she is spying. Of course this had not been confirmed as what she is actually doing, but all the students at Hogwarts think so, especially Harry, Ron, and Hermione.
Professor Umbridge gave Harry another weeks worth of detention for speaking out in class. Harry is on the quiditch team for Gryffindor, and the team captain is Angelina. Last week she was very upset to know that Harry had to miss practice to go to detention. This week was even worse, because he had to miss another weeks worth of quiditch practice, and Angelina was very angry. I understand why Angelina would be angry, because if I were captain I would be too. But, Harry seems to be recieving detention for nothing horribly wrong. Speaking out is class, all though it is not acceptable, for doing it a couple times, shouldn't land him in detention. As I kept reading, I understood that Harry had temper problems and always seems to burst in her class. I think he needs to relax a little bit because his anger gets him into trouble.
Hermione had the idea of forming a club to learn Defense against the dark arts. Professor Umbridge doesn't allow her class to use magic so Hermione thought Harry could teach a group of people defense strategies for the real world. Harry agreed to be the teacher. When everyone went to Hogsmeade for the weekend, Hermione told everyone to meet at Hog's Head for their first meeting. Harry expected only a few peole to come, but almost twenty or more people came, including Cho, the person he likes. He was very impressed with the turn out but a little stressed out. I think the idea of having your own club to learn real life things is an excellent idea. Since, Professor Umbridge wouldn't teach them, learning it on your own is a very wise desicion. They voted Harry the leader because he has actual experience in using defense against the dark arts spells. The group became known as Dumbledore's Army. The only drawback was, Professor Umbridge, as the "High Inquisitor", made the rule that all clubs had to be approved by herself. It seems like Umbridge is doing everything in her power to make sure Harry's life is miserable. I feel very bad for Harry, luckily I have no one like that in my life. But, Harry has to deal with Umbridge and Professor Snape, another teacher who doesn't like him. Of course this was bad because Dumbledore's Army was all against Professor Umbridge. The quiditch team is a club, and luckily got the okay to continue on. Dumbledore's Army continued to still meet in a secret room.
